As theaters and sets are revving up again, actors are experiencing a mix of emotions.
We need to find motivation to get back out there, conquer our self-tape fears, remember how to rock a 16-bar cut, keep showing up in the face of rejection and continuing to navigate this career in the midst of so much uncertainty.
The key is resilience.
In fact, it's been one of the biggest buzzwords over the last 18 months.
You probably know it's good to have but do you really understand what it is?
In today's episode, I explore what resilience is really all about and why it matters so much for performers with Dr. Shawn Talbott. An expert in the field of psycho nutrition, Dr. Shawn is fascinated by the links between diet, biochemistry and psychology: the idea that what we eat changes the biochemistry of our bodies, and influences how we think, feel and behave.
We also dig into science, nutrition, gut health and biochemistry...but don't worry, one of the many reasons I love talking to Shawn is because he has a unique ability to make high level science incredibly relatable and pretty f'ing interesting.
